TRI and Polk County Partner to host Suicide Intervention Training

The Research Institute at WOU and Polk County are partnering to host an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop. This is a fantastic opportunity and is open to whomever would like to attend. This training is appropriate for anyone 16 and older that is interested in learning skills to intervene and support someone when they are feeling suicidal.

The training will be held August 25th and 26th at Western Oregon University and will cost $70 per participant. More information is in the registration link at the end of the email.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day "suicide first-aid" workshop developing skills through observation and supervised simulation in large and small groups. ASIST aims to enable helpers (anyone in a position of trust) to become more willing, ready and able to recognize and intervene effectively to help persons at risk of suicide.

The training will be from 8am-5pm both days with a break for lunch and will be held at Western Oregon University.

The cost is $70.00 per person which covers training materials, continental breakfast, and parking passes for both days.
