Current project: Culturally tailored interventions for ethnically diverse youth.
Culturally tailored psychotherapy that is specific to Latino adolescents may better serve this population. In order to make sense of the mixed research findings on culturally tailored therapy, research is needed on the actual in-session experience. The current study will provide an empirical examination of in-session processes to improve treatment for Latino adolescents. This goal will be accomplished by analyzing group therapy processes during culturally accommodated and standard cognitive behavioral therapy for Latino adolescents with substance abuse/dependence disorders. Utilizing consensual qualitative research, the study explores common and disparate themes of the in-session content.
