21st CCLC Conferences

Improving the outcomes of students in Oregon's 21st CCLC programs

Conference Overview

The Research Institute (TRI), in partnership with the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), is hosting the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) 2017 Spring Conference at Western Oregon University on May 4th and 5th.

In the field of education in recent years, we have learned about "shifting norms" and "growth mindsets". Our conference theme, Shifting Mindsets, considers that in order to successfully do both requires we first shift our own mindsets. In turn, as we work with students, families, schools, communities, and our 21st CCLC programs and colleagues, we can influence others into shifting their mindsets as well. Our keynote speakers for both Thursday and Friday will help inspire that work as well.

On Thursday, Rudyane Lindstrom-Rivera (see bio), will deliver a keynote address and follow up session to help us better meet the unique needs of each and every student and their families.

On Friday, we will experience a keynote address and activities called "Oh, Shift!" from Jennifer Powers (see bio). This is not to be missed.

Representatives from 22 school districts across Oregon will be attending this bi-annual conference at the Werner University Center, engaging in a variety of professional development activities, including Program Team Time, 1-hour Peer-to-Peer and Overview Sessions , and 2-hour Breakout Sessions on a variety of topics. 21st CCLC professionals can choose from 32 professional development sessions over the course of the two days. If ever you've had the opportunity to shift your mindset, now . . . is . . . the . . . time.
