21st Century Community Learning Centers

Improving the outcomes of students in Oregon's 21st CCLC programs

The STEM Academy of Umatilla After School Program offers a variety of interesting and fun experiences for kids through STEM based programming.

High school helpers as teachers, mentors and assistants

These experiences would not be possible without our high school helpers that work in the STEM Academy as teachers, mentors, and assistants in our lower level programs. Since the beginning, we have found how talented our kids are. The older student employees are motivated, passionate, and consistent.

The freedom to build programs

When they are allowed the freedom to build programming, they excel at providing experiences that are interesting, skill building, and fun -- often teaching in ways in which they would be interested in learning.

 A unique connectedness
