As Oregon students work to be successful in their next steps (e.g. postsecondary education and training, workforce entry, career school, apprenticeship, military) the Department of Education is committed to ensuring a variety of options are available to meet all students’ needs. 

GED Accommodations

GED Testing Service Accommodations
We are committed to providing students with full access to the GED® test for anyone with disabilities and support the intention of the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA). Test accommodations are considered on a case-by-case basis and include things   such as extra testing time, extra breaks, and a separate testing room.


ESSA Brief: Highly Qualified Teacher Requirements

The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) has received many questions from districts about how the elimination of HQT and federal requirements for educator evaluations will impact Oregon educators. The purpose of this brief is to provide initial guidance to school districts regarding current requirements (2015 -16) and changes in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years.

GED Option

Oregon's High School Equivalency Program, administered by the HECC Office of Community Colleges and Workforce Development (CCWD) oversees the GED® preparation, instruction and testing process in Oregon. ​The GED® program provides individuals with an opportunity to earn a GED® test credential, in place of a high school diploma.
