Adult-Child Interactions Observation Tool (ACIOT)

The Adult-Child Interactions Observation Tool (ACIOT) is an instrument designed to enhance the skills of early childhood care and education providers. The ACIOT, which was developed, evaluated and refined over a number of years, has proven quality and utility in assessing the skills of adults working with small groups of children. This ten minute observation tool looks at an adult's ability to provide indirect language stimulation, and to deliver appropriate directives, effective praise and corrective feedback to children.
