The Child Development Center's Summer Camp begins June 16, 2015!

Children from the Butterfly and Cricket classrooms share a picnic!

Summer Camp includes indoor and outdoor activities, as well as opportunities for fun, friendship, and exploration! Our programs group children by age and encourage their growing ability to make choices, work with others, and assume responsibilities.

Our camp teachers work collaboratively to develop a fun curriculum that takes advantage of all that the summer offers. They use playgrounds, the surrounding community, and special visitors as an extension of camp, helping children to discover science, explore nature, and engage in the creative arts, all while learning about the vast opportunities in the world around them.

Summer camp is open to children ages 30 months to 10 years. Children are grouped into two classrooms: the Butterfly Room (which serves children 30 months to Pre-K) and the Cricket Room (which serves children from K-10 years).

Camp is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and will run Tuesday, June 16 through Friday, August 28. (We will be closed on July 3 to observe Independence Day.)

Children attending Summer Camp have the option to take swimming lessons through Western Oregon University. The university’s swimming teachers pride themselves on teaching the necessary skills needed to explore water as a lifelong fitness and recreational opportunity.

We have arranged to be a part of two session dates; July 6-23 and July 27-August 13. Summer swim sessions run Monday through Thursday and are three weeks long, consisting of 12 lessons, with each lesson lasting 30 minutes. We will ONLY be attending the session time from 4:45 p.m.–5:15 p.m.  Children must be 3 years of age to participate in the swimming program. Swimming lessons cost $48 per swimmer per session. (This breaks out to be $4 per swim lesson.)

The CDC will bring your child over to the swim lesson and you will then be able to pick them up no later than 5:15 from the WOU Health and Fitness Center. To learn more about the swimming program and/or register your child for lessons, visit http://www.wou.edu/student/campusrec/aquatics.php#aqu.

To view the cost for camp, and to enroll, visit our Enrollment page
and download the appropriate forms. (We use the same enrollment forms for Summer Camp and year-round care.) You can also contact Ingrid Amerson by emailing CDC@wou.edu or calling (503) 838-8334.

We're looking forward to exciting adventures this year at Summer Camp. We hope your child can join us!
